last sunday I gave away my new shoes. I just bought it on sale and its hard to look for another style. if there is, it would be very expensive. One of our church members came to me ( we are not that very close by the way) and told me she likes my new shoes. I asked her if she wants to have it and told her to try wearing it...we have the same size. And so I told her to have my shoes. I mean I really like that shoes...but since she likes it too, I gave it to her. it was quite painful to give something away that I really like but to see her happy to have it makes me happy too... it reminds me of Jesus this Christmas...He gave up his throne to come down to earth because he knows that it won't only make us happy just for now but eternally. It's easier to give when we have plenty but its harder to give something when its very precious to us. But God didn't think about it.... even though it will cause His life in the cross... As the song goes :" I will not offer anything that costs me nothing" hopefully will be our theme for christmas and not only Christmas but everyday of our lives...

Becuase also of this... I would like to acknowledge people who gave up their lives and time for the Lord... to people who work really hard overtime to help the family, sacrifice their own pleasure to serve the people.. to people who went out of their comfort zones and left their comfortable lives to follow God's calling.... You are indeed an inspiration!

I also want to remember my friends who....
wakes up at 2:00 in the morning to call me and say Merry Christmas, who gave up soccer game to accompany me, despite their hectic schedule still finds to tour me around, even though we just meet for the first time helped me with my ticket...bought me sandwich when I was not able to eat dinner, travelled 2 hours just to see me... I appreciate your kindness and love...

Thank you for giving your lives unselfishly to the Lord.... Don't give up on giving up for the Lord.....

The NCCP Statement on th Current Philippine Political Crisis

A STATEMENT ON THE CALL FOR PRESIDENT ARROYO’S RESIGNATION

The National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) and its 13 million constituents along with the vast majority of the Filipino people call for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s resignation on the basis of the so-called “Gloria-gate” tapes. Truth and justice must reign.

President Arroyo ended her silence by admitting that, indeed, she made the phone call to “a COMELEC official”. While she was apologetic, she explained that this was done to “protect her votes” and not to influence the outcome of the elections. We are saddened that she should be concerned about protecting her votes, when as President, it is the people’s well-being that she should protect. Her admission does not allay the people’s doubts about the honesty and genuineness of the election results.

Beyond her entanglement in this unfortunate happening, the President continues to be answerable to the people as regards her economic policies which have aggravated the impoverishment and disempowerment of the marginalized. Large-scale mining by foreign companies has been revitalized. Prices have managed to steadily increase. Attacks on civil liberties and intensifying political repression have been the government’s response to people’s expressions of their legitimate demands.

For us church people, we cannot claim to be unmoved by the president’s apology. But there are far too many events such as the killings of Mr. Joel Baclao, Fr.William Tadena, Rev. Edison Lapuz, journalists, legal defenders, local officials and other peace advocates that have passed without a word from her. And we have no illusions that this will change after the phone conversation admission. She will forever be haunted and hounded by people’s questions about her moral ascendancy and legitimacy to lead this country. The most honorable thing for her to do now is to resign.

A country can only be strong if it is led by one who enjoys the trust, respect and support of the broad masses of the people.

Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of anewspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heardsomething like3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them... So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to theEditor" column,much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed todo my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would bespiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

The Preamble

We, the Youth of the United Methodist Church in the Philippines, conscious of the need for a dynamic and democratic youth organization that shall seek to discover through worship, study and service, the will of God for ourselves, for the church, and for all humanity, provide direction to, help coordinate the total program of, and take active participation in the life and mission of the church , lead all young people into deep religious experience and fellowship with Jesus Christ, and serve as an effective instrument for Christian youth involvement in the development of the nation, do ordain and promulgate the constitution.
